Keeping your Confidence – Shaking Off Pushback

It’s easy to get down when people don’t follow our recommendations

• Pet owners are going to say no sometimes despite your best effort  
• It’s our job to educate the client and present the information we have in the best way possible 
• Ask yourself questions like “what is important to me? Did I communicate that? Was I kind? Did I work hard?”  
  • If the answer is yes, be proud of yourself, you’re doing everything right! 
  • If the answer is no, don’t beat yourself up, tomorrow is a great day to be better. 

Remember:

1. It’s our job to recommend what is best for the pets we serve. 
2. We can’t control what people decide to do. We can only know we did our best.
3. You are the person who needs to decide if you’re doing a good job. It can’t come from someone who had a bad day, doesn’t trust vets, or doesn’t want to spend their money on their pet. It has to come from you.
